Lyriclova watches...
... no TV. But in the Age of Twitch, Netflix, Google Movies or whatever, there is just no incentive for me to put up with the horrible Swiss Cable.
Nevertheless i enjoy watching TV Series from time to time, here is a list of my recent favorites.
Lucifer | Demons, Crime, Netflix |
While the Series seems to be really popular on Netflix, it also feels a bit lackluster. While the overall Story is okay, it feels like it has been morphed into a generic Crimesolving-Show. The Crimes and Cases are interesting, but the attraction between the two Protagonists feels forced, or rather artificially kept in limbo. Especially the later Seasons seem to drag on. Overall, if you have Netflix, its still worth a look.
Forever (2014) | Crime, Immortal, History, Medical |
This is very similar to Lucifer, but since it ran before Lucifer i kind of feel that a lot of this Setup got reused in Series like Lucifer (among others). The MC is immortal since he has been shot and drowned 200 years ago on a Slaveship. Currently he lives with his son (which is around 75) and works as a medical examiner. He starts to help out a Detective, and together they solve Crimes through his unconventional insight into Situations. Im not sure where this Series is still available
Limitless | Crime, |
This is a continuation of the Story from the Movie. It is well made, and there is a lot of stuff going on, intrigue, action, suspense. This Series impressed me with the distinct lack of romantic Angst between the protagonists. There is a Pill, that unlocks the full potential of the human brain. The MC gets the Pill from a Friend and is able to solve a complex issue. But the FBI gets wind of his abilities and now he is forced to assist them in solving crimes. The Series is very entertaining, due to the MC being a slacker turned genius, and it is a constant clash of his laissez-faire attitude and the strict rules and procedures of the FBI. This Series is available on Netflix
iZombie | Crime, Medical, Zombies, FemMC |
A fun Series, which has suprised me at some points. overall its nothing revolutionary, but entertaining to watch. The MC dies during a boating accident, only to "wake up" at the shore and realize she is alive, or rather "undead".
Happy! | Noir, Crime, Fun |
Although i only saw the first season so far, this one is amazing. Its a mix between Max Payne and the Teletubbies. The Protagonist is a rundown cop, who lost fell from grace due to his anger and drinking Issues, after a baby died that he could have saved. He is done with life and his Wife and Daughter have moved on. During an Assassination where he gets paid to kill 3 Sons of the local Mafiaboss, he gets shot nearly dies. Meanwhile his Daughter gets kidnapped and her imaginary Friend (the Unicorn Happy) searches for help, until it finds Nick in the ambulance and tries to convince him to help. What follows is a quest to find and rescue his daughter, but the unlikely Team has some Issues. |
